The Ministry of Welfare Services for War Veterans, War Collaborators, Ex-Political Prisoners Detainees and Restrictees has appealed to heads of primary, secondary and tertiary institutions not to turn away children of war veterans who have not paid their fees.

The Minister, Retired Colonel Tshinga Dube told journalists that government is fully committed to discharging its constitutional duty of paying fees for the children of war veterans.

The minister appealed to heads at primary, secondary and tertiary institutions not to turn away any students who have not paid, saying the funds which treasury has already allocated, will be released in due course.

The war veterans' ministry owes a total of US$37 million dollars to different institutions of learning since 2013.

Last year's arrears stand at US$3,4 million according to the ministry.
