A syndicate of thugs was on a robbing spree in Hurungwe West district Mashonaland West province after breaking into three schools and stealing $US3800 in total before severely bashing the school guards in the wee hours of yesterday (Saturday).
Sources familiar with the development allege the thugs robbed US$1800 at Chidamoyo Secondary meant for tuition fees and proceeded to Matau where they took US$2000 before breaking at Bhashungwe secondary school where they found nothing.
"A syndicate of thugs pounced on three schools in one night hunting for cash and they took US$1800 at Chidamoyo first, US$2000 at Matau and finally broke at Bhashungwe where they got nothing," said the source.
Cases of schools being robbed by unknown robbers are mushrooming in the country and it is astonishing to note why the schools still keep cash in their safe.
Last year in November a primary school in Mashonaland Central province was robbed of its thousand dollars and to date the robbers have not been established.
