The MDC-T MP for Mkoba, Amos Chibay was on Friday acquitted at the Gweru Magistrate's Court where he was facing false charges of assaulting a soldier in May.
At the end of the trial, Magistrate Miyo Rubwe acquitted Chibaya ruling that the State case was weak.
In May, a senior army soldier and known Zanu-PF supporter, Colonel Hungwe made a report at the Gweru Central Police Station alleging that he had been assaulted by Chibaya. The legislator was arrested and remanded in custody at Hwahwa Prison for a week before being granted bail.
During the trial, Hungwe stunned the court when he disowned a police affidavit carrying his signature implicating the MP for assaulting him.
