The government and civil servants representatives have reached a deadlock on the 2016 annual bonuses with another meeting scheduled on the 28th of next month to find a common ground on proposals tabled by government.

The workers representatives reportedly rejected government's offer in relation to the 2016 annual bonuses.

Briefing the media after a one and half hour meeting, the Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Prisca Mupfumira however said they had a fruitful meeting but another meeting has been scheduled for the 28th of next month.

Apex Council Chairperson, Mrs Cecelia Alexander said they are going to further consult their stakeholders on the three options that the government has offered regarding the 2016 annual bonuses.

According to sources close to the crunch meeting, the government offered residential stands, half salary payment and revenue accrued from a bond to be floated.

The government expressed its commitment to the welfare of workers but with low fiscal space, it would be difficult to meet the demands by workers representatives.
