Harare considers introducing concrete roads

The City of Harare is considering constructing concrete roads starting with Harare's Acturus road as a key intervention which is expected to transform the city if successfully implemented.
Harare's roads have become a nightmare for drivers with the pilot programme for the construction of the concrete roads to take place along Acturus road.
The City of Harare has been grappling with how best to maintain the capital's roads with many of them in a state of disrepair.
Acting City of Harare town clerk Mrs Josephene Ncube says the concrete roads can be constructed with locally available materials and have a longer lifespan.
Urban planner Mr Trymore Muderere says concrete roads have been used in many parts of the world and can be part of the solution to ensure the capital's roads outlook is transformed completely.
The drive to construct concrete roads comes after motorists complained of the state of the city's roads.
