The 2018 harmonised elections will go ahead as per constitutional provisions, a senior Zanu-PF official has said.

Addressing the Zanu-PF Mashonaland West Provincial Coordinating Committee meeting in Chinhoyi, where he also reiterated the endorsement of President Mugabe as the party's presidential candidate in 2018, the ruling party's Secretary for Administration, Dr Ignatius Chombo said the elections will go ahead despite some reports saying opposition parties wanted the elections to be postponed.

Dr Chombo also warned aspiring public office holders against putting their monies in the drain by campaigning for positions before the criteria for selection of candidates is laid down.

Meanwhile, Zanu PF Bulawayo Province is gearing up for the 2018 elections with workshops set to be held next week.

The workshops are expected to map the way forward in unifying the party ahead of the plebiscite.

Zanu PF Bulawayo Provincial Chairman, Dennis Ndlovu said a number of workshops in the city expected to set the tone for resource and personnel mobilisation.

Politburo member, Absolom Sikhosana said the party will go all out in luring voters to become part of the revolutionary family in a bid to boost its structural base.

Zanu PF Deputy Secretary for Women Affairs, Eunice Sandi Moyo said the ruling party is now aiming at ending factionalism that has rocked the party.
