The biological father of the Minister of Lands and Rural Resettlement Dr Douglas Mombeshora has finally got an area to preside over as a chief following a resolution made during a meeting of all chiefs from Chikomba District held at the council boardroom on Thursday last week.

The land that forms the new chiefdom used to belong to the Vahera of the Sarirambi and these were moved away by the whites when they created commercial farms in the last century.

Augustine Mombeshora becomes one of the two new chiefs that emerged with an area to preside over after that meeting. The other new chieftainship that was created is the Kareya and the new chief is Onias Munetsi of the Rozvi clan.

Although The Mirror was barred from attending the meeting, sources said the two chiefs were given land under the Manhize Resettlement Scheme. Chief Maromo's area is now ward 7, whilst chief Kareya will be in ward 8.

A committee of chiefs was selected to tackle the long running chieftainship dispute and these were Chief Seke from Seke District, Chief Mutoko, Chief Svosve Gahadza and Chief Nechimbo and the chiefs in Chikomba district.

The seven Chiefs in Chikomba district are Maromo, Kareya, Senator Musarurwa (Enos Masakwa), Chivese (Thomas Makambe), Mtekedza (Andrew Zhakata), Neshangwe (Conellius Dhangwa), Nyoka (Musafare Matizha)
