Sex worker forces herself on a man without his consent

A self-proclaimed thigh vendor was last week arraigned before the courts on allegations of forcing herself on a man without his consent.

Irene Muringani appeared before Harare magistrate Rumbidzai Mugwagwa charged with aggravated indecent assault.

She was not asked to plead to the charge and was advised to apply for bail at the High Court.

She is expected to appear back in court on February 10 for her routine remand.

Circumstances leading to the arrest are that on January 25, this year Irene was standing at Tsiga Bar when she saw the complainant passing by.

It is alleged that she then called and asked him where he was going before asking him to accompany her to her place of residence.

The State also alleges that the complainant then followed Irene to her place in Mbare and upon entering her room she is said to have locked the door from inside.

It is also alleged that Irene then asked the complainant to engage in sex with her of which he declined.

It is alleged that Irene could not take any of that and forced herself on top of him and had sex.
