A CHINAMHORA man (26), who allegedly raped his blood sister on several occasions and impregnated her, was yesterday brought to court charged with rape.
The man from Mutonda Village in Chinamhora was not formally charged with three counts of rape when he appeared before regional magistrate Mr Daniel Shonhiwa.
He was remanded in custody to January 3 in the interim and the trial date was set for January 7 next year.
However, Mr Shonhiwa advised the man to apply for bail at the High Court.
On a date unknown to the prosecutor, but between June and November this year, the man waylaid his sister.
Prosecutor, Ms Kudzai Chigwedere, alleges that in June the man saw his sister resting in a family garden after watering vegetables.
He approached her, pulled her skirt up and started caressing her.
He lifted his sister up and laid her beside a rock and raped her.
After the offence the man threatened to assault her if she disclosed the matter to anyone. On another occasion the man was accompanying his sister from a prophet.
He started fondling her before forcing her into a gully by the roadside where he raped her.
On the third count, he reportedly approached his sister who was alone at the homestead.
He dragged her into the kitchen and raped her.
The girl fell pregnant forcing her to elope to her other boyfriend.
The boyfriend quizzed the girl whether he was truly responsible for the pregnancy.
She confessed that her brother raped her and she fell pregnant.
The boyfriend took the girl to her sister where she revealed the matter.
On December 14, the girl was sent to Parirenyatwa for medical examination.
A police report was made and the man was arrested.
