An MDC-T senior official Tapiwa Mashakada has described his boos Morgan Tsvangirai as the voice of the voice less who has been beaten, tortured and persecuted.

"The voice of the voiceless. Beaten, tortured, persecuted, mocked by his captors and detractors. He has remained uncompromising. His life is about service and sacrifice. He threaded where others feared. His vision is to see a better Zimbabwe for our children. No where in the history of politics would you find a party growing from strength to strength despite "losing" rigged elections," he said.

"Yet since 2000 MDC is to this day a force to reckon with. The only party that defeated Zanu PF for once in 2008. Tsvangirai should be commended for seeking power through constitutional means. In other countries power is wrestled through wars and conflicts. But not in Zimbabwe. All because Tsvangirai abores violence. He loves peace and tranquility. Like i once said, leader does the right things. A manager does things right but not necessarily the right things. I have known Tsvangirai since 1991 when he was my boss at the ZCTU. He was my Secretary General and by then i was a virgin economist fresh from university, armed with a Masters degree but no experience. We have been in the trenches together for so long."

He said Tsvangirai is a humble man and someone who can be trusted to lead the country.

"All he needs is a competent team of Zimbabweans to help him and Zim is not short of such people. Already within the MDC itself there is a critical mass of people with expertise although very unassuming. We have both the hardware and software. But we do not claim or monopolize the democratic struggle. Everybody, everyone and other political parties have an equal role to play. Tsvangirai believes in a big tent that accommodates everyone. But this is not to say he doesn't have sworn enemies. He is both hated and loved. But such is life. We don't have to like each other. Let the minds be ad idem on national issues. We need convergence on the roadmap to 2018. How to relegate Zanu PF to the dustbin of history. To be or not to be. That is the question," he said.
