Abolish life membership, says Bosso members

HIGHLANDERS FC members have called for the restructuring of the club membership to ensure it moves with times and makes significant financial contributions to the sporting institution.
Speaking on the back of suggestions by accountants, PNA Chartered Accountants that the club should focus on widening its membership base to increase income, members said the life membership structure was not sustainable as it does not contribute annual income.
Members felt it was time a new, more relevant system is implemented which would result in every member paying some amount annually. Other members felt the club's precarious financial situation ($800 000 debt) would not be served well by the membership system.
Life membership is pegged at a once off $150 while ordinary membership has a $50 joining fee which is renewable annually at $30.
Kelebile Moeli said it was critical that all members pay an annual subscription fee. He said the life membership serves no purpose in the current situation where the club is struggling financially.
Highlanders last year received $6 930 from membership subscriptions, a decline from 2015's $8 650.
