'Hunger made me steal box of fruits,' man tells police

There was drama at Citri fresh company in Mvurwi Mashonaland Central when an employee allegedly stole a box of clementine fruits (natches) due to hunger.
Eye witnesses allege Bemase Machokoto (22) took a box of clementine fruits and threw it out of the fence yard on Friday night, little did he know the security guards were monitoring him.
Machokoto was arrested after picking his box from where he had hid it, thereby giving overwhelming evidence to the police.
Confronted on his actions Machokoto said hunger pushed him to steal from his employer as the employer would understand him better.
"As my employers you would understand me better because things are tight out there so I took these fruits out of desperation and hunger please forgive me," he said.
Cases of theft are mushrooming in Mvurwi and people are flocking the police station filing reports.
