The Ministry of Education has ordered  all schools in Matabeleland to shut down on Thursday and Friday to provide accommodation to thousands of Zanu PF the youth league members attending 21st Movement.

The youth league members would be part of delegates celebrating President Robert Mugabe's 93rd birthday in Matopos on Saturday. Mugabe turned 93 on Tuesday.

Each province is sending close to 20 000 youth members for the party.

"Please do not bring your daughters to school on Thursday 23 February and Friday 24 February.

"Normal school will resume on Monday 27 February," reads part of the letter seen by Bulawayo24.com sent by a concerned parent.

The minister of Primary and Secondary Education Lazarus Dokora issued the directive today, state controlled Chronicle reported as 'breaking news".

The closure has been seen as step closer in Zanu PF led Government in declaring  February 21 a national holiday.

Zanu PF youth league has been lobbying for years for such a declaration.

It is not clear how schools in Binga would affect Mugabe's bash is learning continues.

More than 100 000 people are expected at the party, Zanu PF officials say.
