22 Feb 2017 at 16:12hrs | Views
Scores of motorists travelling between Bulawayo and Tsholotsho spent the whole day stuck as the water levels kept rising at the Khami river bridge in Nyamandlovu.
Motorists carrying goods to assist the flood victims in Tsholotsho were forced to return to Bulawayo and travel to Sipepa via Solusi University in Matabeleland South Province.
The water levels at the Khami river have been increasing since the heavy rains began pounding the region.
By Monday morning, vehicles from either side of the river were already parked anticipating the water levels will start dropping but this was not to be.
A team from Red Cross travelling to Sipepa to assist the flood victims was also left stranded.
Despite the gravity or urgency of their matters many showed they were taking the Civil Protection advice seriously.
The department of Civil Protection has been warning the public to avoid crossing flooded rivers to avoid loss of lives.
