National E;lectoral Reform Agenda (NERA) has said it is continuing to map the electoral process in the country and is currently in Mashonaland East.
NERA said election mapping is the process of identifying and verifying specific polling stations for the 2018 elections.
"The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has listed specific polling stations for each Province. In the past ZEC and ZANU PF have had ballots
counted from bogus polling stations. The situation improved in wards 18, 15 and as the team managed to Visit all the polling stations without any
resistance from the local militia. the team visited Chief Mangwende for just a formality. The Chief Informed the team that as a norm the team was
supposed to let the Chief know that they were in the area. The Team apologized for the mishap as they where not aware they needed to given the
mapping process was a national program," said NERA.
"The Chief also informed the team that his hands are tied by ZANU PF and that though the chiefs are supposed to be apolitical ZANU PF has made sure
that all traditional leaders become party activists. The chief advised the Nera Team that in the future they must report all the disturbances by ZANU
PF youths to the Police for record purposes."
NERA said on Monday the NERA team will have a meeting with the ZEC Provincial Officer for some briefings and recommendations especially the
issue of a Polling Station discovered at ZANU PF youth leader's home.
"The NERA team realised that there was a lot of resistance from the Zanu pf.The team has also set some teams of people from different opposition
political parties to work with locally for some tipoffs and also for security reasons," said NERA.
