Restless civil servants have resolved to stage a demonstration next Monday countrywide in protest over outstanding 2016 bonuses.
The Apex Council issued a statement today demanding "immediate payment of our 2016 Bonus as per tradition" and registering its disgruntlement over "shifting dates of meeting willy-nilly without notice to the Union".
It added " The undersigned Apex Council members here by SERVE DUE NOTICE to government that civil servants will hold a demonstration on Monday 6th of March 2017 to demand for , (a) immediate payment of our 2016 Bonus as per tradition (b) a stop to public attacks on UNION by Government"
Government has indicated that it will offer residential stands as bonuses.
However, the union leaders want cash for their 2016 annual bonuses.
Last week, teachers under Zimta warned government "not to stretch the patience of workers as this amounts to triggering of industrial harmony and to introducing conflict which is likely to disrupt the smooth delivery of government services".
