Ex-lover demands gifts back

Ending a love affair with her former boyfriend has proved costly for a Stoneridge woman as the man is demanding every penny he spent on her.

Lorraine Nyawo claimed that Dickson Gwanzura is now harassing her hence her reason for seeking for a protection order.

She alleged that Gwanzura only gave her money for her hairdo and bought her panties but paid him back.

"He comes to my workplace to insult me. He says I am a prostitute and that he wants his money back of which I paid him back.

"He only paid for my hairdo and bought me panties but I did pay him back and I do not see the reason why he should keep on harassing me.

"I am now married and he is disturbing my marriage with his constant harassment.

"I no longer love him and I have moved on so he should stop following me around," Nyawo told the court.

In response, Gwanzura denied harassing Nyawo but said he wanted the money he loaned her.

"During the subsistence of our relationship, she borrowed US$100 from me.

"So far she has just paid half of that money.

"I approached her asking for my money and I do not think that is harassment.

"I too no longer love her but all I want is my money," said Gwanzura.

Nyawo was granted the protection order sought by magistrate Sharon Rakafa.
