The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) says it surpassed its gross and net revenue targets by over four percent and three percent respectively for the month of January.

ZIMRA collected gross and net revenue amounting to US$264.79 million and US$262.21 million against a target of US$254.10 million, translating to a growth in net revenue of over 13 percent compared with the amount collected during the same period last year.

Speaking on the sidelines of a media workshop in Harare, ZIMRA Board Secretary and Director for Legal and Corporate Services, Ms Florence Jambwa said the six months  moratorium granted to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to register for VAT without being penalised will increase compliance levels and the much needed revenue.

The media workshop also sought to discuss issues to do with tax and customs, the anti-corruption campaign, as well as revenue enhancement measures, among other topics.
