A Mbare man has declared that his wife has no right to deny him conjugal rights at any given time as it is his right.

The young man said no one can stop him if he feels like bedding his wife.

Byron Mugomo, who appeared before the Harare Magistrates'  civil court on allegations of abuse, said his wife Gracious Makuvi should not deny him sex.

"Ini sababa kana ndoda kukw*** haangandirambidze," said Mugomo.

He added:

"It does not make sense that my wife says no to me when I want to engage in sex with her. I should engage in sex with her whenever I feel like and she should not say no to me.

"She usually denies me sex when we have a misunderstanding and as a way of punishing me she refuses to bed me. At times like these I sleep in my commuter omnibus to avoid quarrels."

Mugomo went further to say Makuvi was not submissive because they were staying at her parents' house and she felt like she was his boss.

"All I want is for her to respect me. She thinks that because we are staying at her parent's house she now owns me. I am the man of the house and she has to respect that," said Mugomo.

Makuvi alleged that Mugomo verbally, physically and sexually abused her.

"We are currently not staying together but he comes home and demands to engage in sex with me. If I refuse he gets violent with me. He has threatened to run me over with his commuter omnibus.

"He also insults me and I want him to stop. I want to be treated like a human being and not like I am some kind of animal. He once threatened to stab me and I am scared of him," alleged Makuvi.

Presiding magistrate Sharon Chipanga granted the protection order in Makuvi's favour.
