The rigging infrastructure is intact

MDC-T senior official Tapiwa Mashakada has said as the nation gears for the 2018 election it is baffling that the rigging infrastructure of the ruling Zanu PF is still intact.
He said most people think the end is nigh and however the focus of everybody is on elections as a vehicle to bring about change.
"But those who are benefiting from the status quo are violently opposed to any whiff about change. This is why a miracle has to happen in order for Zimbabwe to hold free fair and credible elections. In my view credible elections are impossible under the present circumstances. The rigging infrastructure is intact. What Zec is doing is most probably a decoy. The wrangle about BVR KITS illustrates this point," he said.
"Zanu PF since 2000 has never won a free and fair elections. Or perhaps there is no such word in their vocabulary. So what is the end game? I suggest that holding elections that are organized by Zanu PF is a futile exercise. Holding elections with President Mugabe as a candidate is useless because you know those elections will be rigged before they start. The solution is to retire President Mugabe and begin serious SADC/AU/UN supervised electoral and political reforms."
He said there is no point for them as opposition to go into rigged elections and complain the morning after. However, like war games, they must continue to prepare but knowing that NO REFORMS NO ELECTIONS.
"The war room cry is : Let President Mugabe retire followed by genuine reforms. The ball is in the court of Zanu PF structures. The President himself has said that his party continues to force him to stand as a candidate. This is cheap talk of course. He can retire own his own volition. Why not? Why blame the party? On the other hand some people are saying Morgan must retire too? I don't agree. Why equalise Dr Tsvangirai and President Mugabe," he said.
"MT has been winning all elections since 2000? He is a victim of systemic rigging and manipulation. People still believe in him that's why it has not been possible to break his back even with 2 splits. He is still the last man standing. The MDC-T has vibrant structures throughout the country. The nay sayers are on social media and boardrooms."
