A 38-year-old Guruve man was slapped with $300 fine for culpable homicide and driving without a licence.
The state alleges that on 10 August 2016, Matthew Tapererwa (38) failed to control his tractor, veered off the road and hit a tree.
He had two passengers in the trailer, Morgan Matimati and Liberty Jesameni, who were trapped after the accident. Matimati died on the spot.
During mitigation, the accused said he did not know that driving a tractor requires a driver's licence.
Guruve magistrate Nixon Mangoti sentenced him to three months in prison wholly suspended on condition he does not commit a similar offence in the next 5 years in addition to a fine of $300.
