SHARING is caring!
These words had no meaning for a woman from Shurugwi, in the Midlands Province who allegedly poisoned her husband as punishment for marrying a second wife claiming she was now "too old and unattractive".
Seeing her husband Cephas Chivhu taking another wife was going a step too far, for Sekai Chivhu and she poisoned his food with an unknown substance.
According to a source close to the family, problems started after Cephas complained that he was taking another wife since Sekai had been denying him conjugal rights for over a year.
But Sekai, who claimed she was still sexually active, strongly opposed her husband's decision who, however, went on to marry Emily Moyo.
This, however, did not go down well with Sekai who allegedly thought it was better for her to live without a husband than sharing him with someone before she hatched a plan to poison his food.
"Cephas has always been complaining to us that his wife was denying him sex and was planning of marrying a second wife. Living true to his plans he took Moyo whom he said was willing to have sex with him whenever he felt like he needed it," said a source who didn't want to be named.
It is reported that after a week Sekai who pretended to be satisfied with her husband's arrangement hatched a plan to "fix" him when she took an unknown substance and laced his food.
"After consuming the food, Cephas started writhing in pain lying on the floor of the sitting room and was found by Moyo who then alerted neighbours. Moyo with the help of neighbours gave Cephas some milk forcing him to vomit," said the source.
Suspicions having got them they confronted Sekai who later confessed that she was the one who had poisoned her husband.
When contacted for comment Sekai didn't dispute the accusations. She said she did it out of anger as she felt she had lost her husband to another woman.
"I did it out of frustration as he was always bragging about how good Moyo is in bed while calling me names. If he had brought a decent wife I would have agreed to share with him but not with Moyo who is after our property and money," said Sekai.
She, however, denied the allegations that she was denying Cephas sex.
Moyo was said to have left Cephas' homestead in fear of Sekai.
"I left as I cannot live with someone who has an evil mind. Who knows maybe I am the next victim and I might not be as lucky as Cephas to cheat death," said a seemingly fearful Moyo.
Cephas was, however, not reachable for comment.
Chief Nhema confirmed the incident and said they were yet to report it to the police.
