MDC-T senior member Dr Tapiwa Mashakada has said when one looks at the survival of his party he must see the hand of God as most parties which came after independence crumbled under the hands of the ruling Zanu PF.

He said any other opposition party would be history by now.

"Looking at the journey the MDC has traversed one can only see the hand of God. We have survived a torturous political struggle littered with challenges. The perennial challenge has been since 2000, the subversion of the will of the people at the ballot. While this has been a setback for sure it has also inspired people to continue to rally behind the MDC and its leader. Otherwise without the unflinching support of the people how else would the MDC have survived since 1999?" he said.

"How can you explain the fact that rented social media pundits and MDC detractors are still fighting the MDC and its leader Morgan Tsvangirai, 17 years on? For me it only means that the MDC cannot be wished away. It is a fact and reality that MDC still enjoys huge support in an environment of intimidation, violence and oppression. The pictures of men, women and youth that we post here are not photo shopped. They are a vivid reminder that the MDC is carrying the masses with it."

He said even without external funding the MDC has trudged on and the  people are funding their own project.

"The beauty of us is that we have never attacked or denigrated other opposition parties or leaders in all our narratives. Our focus is not merely on Zanu PF and its leader but we proffer plausible alternatives to the current economic quagmire. Those who care should visit our MDC Zimbabwe website in order to get the essence of our policy trajectory. Yes we have bungled and made mistakes like any other political party. Some of our mistakes were self inflicted yet some were the result of state intelligence stings," he said.

"Zimbabweans lets unite and rescue our motherland from plunder and decimation. We ought to put our heads together as one and forge a formidable opposition front with a clear economic program to stop the economic bleeding and transform the country. We are not vindictive as we seek to unite all Zimbabweans for a new Zimbabwe. We salute all opposition."
