A prison officer, Endesai Mukwaira, at Guruve station ran over a national member of National People's Party (NPP) freedom Fighter Temba Dube (59) with his vehicle on Friday.

Speaking from Guruve hospital where Dube is currently admitted, he said it was an accident and not politically motivated as alleged by party members.

"I was run over by Mukwaira who was speeding it was just an accident not a political issue," said Dube.

Bulawayo24.com could not further interview him as he was in deep pain instead his wife Bridget Mupfurutsa spoke on his behalf.

Mupfurutsa exonerated Mukwaira from political allegations saying he is well known for speeding hence it was an accident.

"We are here in hospital because of the accident that happened this is not politics everyone in Guruve knows Mukwaira's rough driving hence we cannot say he was sent by ZANU PF as alleged.

Party members are coming one by one as you know the incident happened yesterday so many people are yet to receive the bad news," she said.

Meanwhile, party members were alleging Dube was run over as a way of fixing him for dumping the ruling party.
