A Zimbabwe Communist Party official Ngqabutho Nicholas Mabhena has claimed that the ANC in South Afroica is far much clean in terms of democracy compared to the ruling Zanu PF and opposition MDC-T in Zimbabwe.

"One thing l like about the ANC, as opposed to Zanu PF and some opposition parties in Zimbabwe, is that, it believes in leadership renewal. President Jacob Zuma knows that he will not be the ANC President come 25 December 2017, this can not be said of Mugabe and others in the opposition. The Mugabe supporters would say, "...its only Mugabe who can stand up against the imperialists forces...". My comrades in MDC-T would say, " only Tsvangirai can defeat Mugabe, the man in now a brand....", while in the ANC, a new leader will be elected to continue with the radical economic transformation," he said.

A commutator  however blamed Mabhena's comparison.

"I  think  your comparison does not Have merit. Zuma is an elected President and so is Robert Mugabe, Morgan Tsvangirai on the other hand is an elected opposition leader who can choose to stand as long as the constitution of his party allows him to do so, remember we are and a revolution not in Government and n a revolution we don't change leaders like we do when we are n Govt because this has disastrous consequences if u a Really honest with yourself u will agree with me on that point. Lastly allow me to borrow one shona proverb or saying which think will answer your  question , Ndiro kana Kapu haitenderedzwe Imo mu Kapu macho musati mava nechinhu," he said.

But Mabhena said Tsvangirai is engaged in a struggle against dictatorship, Mugabe is engaged in a struggle against imperialist forces, Zuma is engaged in a struggle for radical economic transformation. He said in short, it does not mean that, the day you get elected in government, the struggle is over.

Thamue Jacob Maseko said the leadership renewal thing is actually in accordance to our respective national constitution, Zuma isn't relieving himself of the office because he wants to, it's because the national law and constitution decides that for the presidential office.

"So yeah, i don't think this is a Zanu/Mdc worth discussion, the root of it lies with the national constitution," he said.
