THE Deputy minister of Agriculture responsible for livestock Paddy Zhanda has said his ministry is currently planning to cover the livestock revival for Masvingo and Matabeleland North.
He was responding questions asked by senators in parliament.
"I think it is evident that the Command agriculture has done very well on the crop side and we have just recently submitted a plan to cover the livestock sector, particularly for the sectors in Masvingo, Matebeleland South and Matebeleland North and part of Midlands where livestock does very well," Zhanda said.
"It is Government's intention to make sure that the finances are in place as soon as possible so that farmers in that area can also be covered like what we have done with the crop side of Command agriculture. Government takes very seriously the issue of livestock, because it is a major component in agriculture and in the lives of our people, particularly in those regions that I have talked about."
