A man from Sauerstown in Bulawayo is in trouble after he raped a 17 year old girl.

Percival Robert Beechy (32) was not asked to plead to rape when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Franklin Mkhwananzi. The magistrate remanded him in custody to 14 April.

The court heard that on January 6 2017 in the morning the girl had gone to Baptist Church in town where she dances and be rewarded with a dishful of chicken. There she met Beechy who is a member of the church. After church service she asked Beechy is she can pass through his residence as a friend before she goes to her grandmother's place and the accused agreed.

On arrival at Beechy's home Beechy gave her drink and bread she ate. He then told her that he was pleased by the complainant's visit so he wanted to show her his pleasure by having sexual intercourse with her.

When it became dark, the accused said she should sleep on the bed in which she did. He then told her to undress so that they can have sex but the girl refused saying she cannot do that elderly act for she was going to be injured but he persisted and they had sex once.

He later slept beside the girl before he could repeat the act the same night. In the morning he went out saying he was going to buy milk for them to each Sadza and returned soon to tell the girl that her grandmother had gone to report him to the police that he slept with the girl.

He advised her to run away from his home. They ran way together and spent the rest of the day roaming the street before they could go back home in the evening.

In their return they found the girl's brother who took them to the police station where a report was made leading to Beechy's arrest.
