An MDC-T senior Sesel Zvidzai has explained the significance of the gifts given to President Robert Mugabe by his party members in which he says they are clear indications that they are for his use either to sign documents on the appointment of successor and use during his retirement.

"Never done gestures. Completely anathema to do good byes at Night, to do that was a bad omen. Many other things like telling a baby" chienda kundovata". (,go to bed) Bad indeed gestures though perhaps we'll meant were always read ironically," he said.

"Indeed this week Ministers of our Government performed giant ironical gestures. They collectively gave the President (Mugabe) belated birthday gifts being a Gold watch, pen and a motorised wheel chair."

He said they chose to call the wheel chair some nice name.

"We are used to this and it's purely traditional .(this is why shonas call a baboon nhongo ruwere(he-goat of the mountains) to justify eating it The deeper meaning of the wrist watch gift is to remind Mugabe that Time is up. Step down," he said.

"The Golden Pen signifies the need for President Mugabe to sign an important and unprecedented document. Perhaps to appoint his successor or his own pension."

"The Wheelchair signifies the readiness of the cabinet to assist the President into a new life..away from the rigours administoring a nation..to laughing of time with grandchildren and sipping traditional brews with old men of his generation."
