Thug attacks taxi driver

A Bulawayo taxi driver was recently attacked by a thug when he stopped for them thinking that they were clients seeking transport.
This was heard by the Bulawayo magistrate Tinashe Tashaya when Charles Ngwenya appeared before him charged with assault.
The matter was remanded to April 19.
The court was told that the complainant Gift Mberenga (39) of Mpopoma a taxi driver on January 24 2015 at 10pm was hired by a client from town to Mzilikazi along the way he heard some people whistling thinking that they were customers and he stopped for them.
Ngwenya allegedly struck him on the cheek with a chain and he was identified by the client who was in the taxi who identified him as Baba Sharon.
A report made to the police led to Ngwenya's arrest.
