A man from Cowdray Park in Bulawayo is in trouble after he purported to be selling a housing stand which later turned out not to be his when he had already been paid $12 000.
Austin Moyo (61) pleaded not guilty to fraud when appearing before Bulawayo magistrate Tinashe Tashaya. The magistrate remanded him to April 17 for trial.
The court was told that on January last year Moyo responded to an advertisement which was on whats-app that was flighted by the complainant who was looking for a residential stand to buy.
The accused told him that he was Mpandasekwa Muzheri the owner of stand number 14 602 Silwane Road Selbourne Park. The accused produced an identity card in the name of Mpandasekwa with his face.
As a result of the misrepresentation the complainant gave the accused a Ford Ranger valued at $9000 and $3000 as payment towards the purchase of the said stand when the stand did not belong to him.
The complainant later discovered that the stand did not belong to Moyo and a report made to the police led to his arrest.
