LUCKY ran out for a Nyanga married woman who was in the habit of luring her boyfriend into her matrimonial bedroom while her hubby was away when the lovebirds were caught red-handed having quality time.

The two - Ivy Masamba and her boyfriend only identified as Gwenzi, a tout at Evergreen Bus Terminus in Rusape, were caught in the act in the former's matrimonial bedroom in Dombo, Village 22, which is close to Kriste Mambo in Makoni.

Ivy is married to Never Zimbiti, who works in Troutbeck, and the couple has been blessed with a child.

The cheaters were caught red-handed and detained for hours by irate villagers and were only released last Wednesday around 5pm following intervention by eight police officers from Nyanga.

Had it not been for the police intervention, the situation could have turned nasty as villagers were taking turns to assault the pair using syjamboks.

The lovebirds were also denied food.

A member of the Zimbiti family who declined to be named told The Weekender that Never's relatives and some villagers were very suspicious of Gwenzi's visit to Ivy's homestead in the absence of her husband.

The relative added that Zimbiti was informed about it, but he never took it seriously.

"Yes, that story is true. Ivy Masamba is married to Never Zimbiti and they stay in Village 22, Dombo. Ivy was caught a fortnight ago on Tuesday evening being intimate with her boyfriend only identified as Gwenzi (hwindi wepaEvergreen) in Rusape.  They were caught by Never's mother, Gogo Zimbiti who called other villagers to witness the drama.

"What happened on the day in question is that Gogo Zimbiti who stays about 300 meters away from Ivy visited her and that is when Gwenzi arrived and went straight into the kitchen without greeting them. Gogo was so surprised and quizzed Ivy on the stranger who did not give her satisfactory answers.

"Gogo Zimbiti then left for her homestead, but after 20 minutes she returned with a female villager and they peeped through the bedroom window and they got the shock of their lives as they saw Ivy and Gwenzi being intimate. Gogo then locked the door from outside and informed the whole village.

"Villagers came in droves and were baying for the two cheaters' blood. There was commotion when the villagers discovered that it was Gwenzi a man they regularly see with Ivy. Villagers started to physically assault the two lovers. Ivy's husband, Never who works in Troutbeck was called and came around 11pm and also saw his wife and Gwenzi in his bedroom," said the relative.

He added: "Our family then resolved that Ivy's parents should be called to witness their daughter's shenanigans and we drove to Ruwangwe to collect them. Hundreds of villagers spent the night at our homestead.

We had to lie to Ivy's parents that their daughter was seriously ill and when they arrived at our homestead they were surprised to see so many people gathered and they started crying thinking that maybe their daughter had died, but were told to cool down."

Ivy's parents were later shocked to see their daughter and her boyfriend. They joined in assaulting the two lovebirds.

"Ivy's parents assaulted the two lovers and they had to be stopped by onlookers. Word then reached Gwenzi's friends that he had been detained and they rushed to Rusape Central Police to make a report, but they were advised that Dombo Village is under Nyanga District. They then contacted Nyanga police lying that Gwenzi was detained by armed people and his life was under threat.

"Eight uniformed and plain-clothed police officers came around 5pm and they managed to rescue Ivy and Gwenzi without any resistance from villagers.

" Ivy, Gwenzi, Never and Ivy's parents were taken to Nyanga Police Station where they were counselled and released. Ivy went away with her parents as Never had said he no longer loved her as his wife," said the relative.

Efforts to get comments from Ivy and Gwenzi were in vain.

Never Zimbiti's mobile number was also not reachable.
