21 people have been killed during this Easter holiday up from 10 who were killed last year during the same period.
Statistics by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) indicates an increase in the number of fatal accidents, people killed and injured in road accidents.
This is despite a decrease being recorded in the number of traffic accidents recorded and cars impounded this year compared to the same period last year.
21 people were killed this year against 10 last year, 91 injured in 171 accidents with 55 recorded as injured in 181 road accidents last year.
Police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi says most of the accidents were caused by negligence on the part of drivers.
He urged motorists to be cautious and avoid overtaking on dangerous areas.
Road accidents continue to claim innocent lives and government is making efforts to reconstruct road networks to improve the status of the roads.
However, human error remains a challenge as drivers appear to be suffering from attitude problems resulting in unnecessary road carnage.
