Chiefs express gratitude to Mugabe

Chiefs from different parts of Zimbabwe have hailed President Robert Mugabe for his able stewardship of the country.

Speaking to the reporters at the 37th independence anniversary celebrations at the National Sports Stadium today (Tuesday), the chiefs said through his policies Zimbabweans have been empowered and have the freedom to chart their own destiny.

The chiefs who are custodians of Zimbabwean culture and tradition expressed gratitude to President Mugabe for his caring attitude to his people.

They thanked him for feeding the nation in times of drought and for giving them inputs during the planting season as well as for helping Zimbabwe regain its bread basket status through command agriculture.

They also thanked him for the peace and tranquility that has existed in Zimbabwe since independence.

The chiefs called on Zimbabweans to work towards maintaining the unity in the country for development and prosperity.
