A source who claims to be privy to the alleged bribery of local private newspapers by Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, state media reported.

State Media and Zanu-PF mouth pieces claim that Tsvangirai ordered the editors to redirect their negative reports to Zanu-PF and attack officials who dare question the blundering recklessness of Tsvangirai and his party.

Mr. Gabriel Chaibva has named three editors whom he alleges received money in return to give favourable coverage to the MDC-T President and his party.

Mr. Chaibva alleges that The Standard editor, Nevanji Madanhire, Newsday editor, Brian Mangwende and Daily News editor, Stanely Gama received money from the Prime Minister's Office to give favourable coverage to Mr. Tsvangirai and his party the MDC-T.

Another source, Mr. Goodson Nguni, who says he had been closely monitoring the scam, said it is not a secret that the Prime Minister's office working in cahoots with private media editors and some western agents and alleged that a fund to coordinate state of affairs of the private media have been established.

It is alleged that the Prime Minister's Spokesperson, Mr. Luke Tamborinyoka and Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office, Mr. Jameson Timba are the key point-men in the whole saga.

It is alleged that strategic meetings were held in sports and golf clubs dotted around Harare and in surrounding towns.

Only last year, the Prime Minister's junior minister, Jameson Timba went on a spending spree dishing out US$3 million to the private media to influence them to denounce Zanu-PF.
