Mthwakazi Republic Party has hailed the people of Mthwakazi for their resilience after 37years of marginalisation by the ruling Zanu PF.
MRP Bulawayo secretary for Information and publicity Khulekani mathonsi said they are getting strong as a people.
"It is a fact beyond political debate that Zimbabwe independence has done nothing for Mthwakazi people. In the hands of the tribal Zimbabwean
government. We have lost thousands of our people ,our social life, and we are in the brink of losing our culture. As we reflect on how we have survived these inhumane situations which are imposed on us by our oppressors we can only be sure that we are with God,and he will lead us to the promised land," he said.
"37 years of the dummy independence we are still yet to see justice for Gukurahundi victims and their families ,we have no Industries to talk about
,tribal discrimination is at its peak and our people are all over the world in search of better living conditions, since they are being denied the
employment opportunities in their own land in favour of people from the North."
He said with these conditions in mind they as Mthwakazi people tend to wonder, what is independence?
"Who exactly are the people of Zimbabwe? Who did we get our independence from? The idea of independence brings a lot of unanswered questions chief among them does the government of Zimbabwe know about the people of Mthwakazi? If Zimbabwe is a unitary state then why does the government oppress and sabotage us on tribal grounds?" he said.
"To us Mthwakazi citizens freedom is still an illusion and a fantasy. We still long for and wish to experience real independence. To be governed by
a government that does not butcher its people .We still want to see our children being taught by teachers who can speak their native language."
He said who know their environment and who actually care about the betterment of the community and not their salary!
"We still want a society were the police do not harass people for speaking a different language .MRP still want to see a society where employers judge people based on abilities not their surname or where one comes from. 18th of April is not independence day,it signals the day we as a people of Mthwakazi changed the slave master from a harsh racist to a heartless tribalist," he said.
"Congratulations to the people of Mthwakazi for being resilient and peaceful to this end, though for us it is still not yet Uhuru but our
independence is a reality which needs us to work together."
