The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Mr George Charamba says he is not pleased with the progress of infrastructural development at Montrose Studios in Bulawayo saying the project is an embarrassment.

Speaking after a tour of the new structure that is yet to be finished at the studios which will house the new television studios, Mr Charamba said the failure by the contractor to finish the civil works is an embarrassment to the digitalisation project given that renovations and the upgrading of the studios is part of the national project that is on government's top priority.

He said there is a need to speed up and complete the project on time for full implementation of the digital migration.

Mr Charamba said while there is good progress in other parts of the country in the digitalisation programme, Bulawayo was lagging behind.

An official of the Zimbabwe digitalisation project Mr Tererai Mabhena said he is not pleased with the time taken by the contractor Double C construction building and civil engineering construction.

He added that while the constructor has been paid his dues he has continued to frustrate the project.

Mr Mabhena said a collective decision on the delays has been arrived at and corrective measures will be taken soon to ensure that the national project is not delayed further.
