Two companies that have put up bids to provide biometric voter registration (BVR) kits are arriving in the country this Wednesday ahead of site validation tests scheduled for the 24th and 25th of this month. There are no Israel companies that have made a bid so far.
Zimbabwe Electoral Commission Chairperson Justice Rita Makarau says the two companies are Luxton Group Systems from China and Dermalog Identification Systems from Germany.
The third company Zetes Group from Belgium which had also tendered their bid to provide the BVR kits has pulled out.
Justice Makarau explained that the two firms will conduct mock registration exercises on the 24th and 25th of this month at a selected urban school and a rural school.
She also revealed that all stakeholders have been notified and representatives of all political parties, civic society organisations, faith-based organisations, government departments and cooperating partners will attend a debrief meeting this Thursday.
