There was commotion at Guruve court when members of a Zimbabwe National Army soldier's family and his girlfriend got into a fight with the Military Police.

The Military Police had come to apprehended 27-year-old Joseph Hozo soon after his release from prison following a tip-off from Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) because he had allegedly gone AWOL from his army services.

Hozo had been arrested after allegedly destroying his girlfriend, Marbel Kanengoni's, property.

While in jail, Hozo convinced Kanengoni to withdraw charges and telling her that they could spend his government bonus with her.

Kanengoni withdrew the charges before Guruve magistrate Artwel Sanyatwe.

Prison officers are said to have helped in dispersing Hozo's lover and family from interfering with his arrest.

A source who declined to be named told Bulawayo24.com that Hozo was well-known for ill-treating his family opting to stay with girlfriends.

"This soldier is not responsible he often left his family without food opting to stay with hookers, he must be punished," said the source.
