MRP consulted before approving to go into elections

Mthwakazi Republic Party Mbonisi Gumbo has said his party consulted wildly over the move to participate in the 2018 elections before they could approve the idea.
MRP recently announced that it will be participating in the elections much to the chagrin of other Mthwakazi parties which accused it of conspiring with Zimbabwean authorities to derail the Mthwakazi restoration agenda.
"MRP as a people's revolutionary party, its leadership spent most of 2015 and 2016 doing consultations with its members, some Lawyers, academics that are pro and anti Mthwakazi Restoration. In that process we had a privilege to meet as well political leaders from different Mthwakazi formations we discussed a lot, we met pressure groups we debated a lot," Gumbo said.
"After all has been said and done we as MRP realised that almost everyone of them believe and know that going to the election route is the right thing to do, their biggest fear is what if we lose. Their fear to lose elections made some of them to set targets for themselves which they know they can't meet but they are just hoping for a miracle. On the other hand MRP leadership has always been willing to take up the challenge, and we have always said we have nothing to lose as people of Matabeleland because we have nothing at all."
He said as long as they campaign and reach out to every corner they can't lose.
"Those of you who believe that if MRP lose in election it will disturb the Restoration Agenda, thus the more reason why you must fully embrace and support MRP to make sure it doesn't lose elections all of you should register and vote for MRP, because if you believe that a lose for MRP is a loss for all of us, then you should also believe that a win for MRP is a win for all of us. Finally I would like to state that, it is a fact that Mthwakazi is still under Zimbabwe," he said.
"We want to Restore our state to where it was, but we are yet to achieve that. Therefore it is distortion of information for one to think that going for elections in that country as Mthwakazi is contradiction. Let's face it fox we still using Zimbabwe passports, IDs, academic certificates, if you decide to come home to hold any political meeting you still have to follow POSA, notifying the ZRP, whatever else you want its in Zimbabwe name. And you subscribe to all this except elections? Let's face these win in our region and make a move to the next level. There is no way we can claim to represent people without their knowledge so let's go to the people first."
He said even if all Mthwakazi parties were to boycott these elections, they were not going to make any impact because other parties will always participate and you will not be felt that you are not participating and MDC-T and ZANU PF will continue to dominate us without us giving them a challenge.
"The MRP Manifesto is almost ready and it will be published at the right time." he said.
