A 20- year-old drug peddler from Kamusha farm in Mvurwi was slapped with US$150 fine for possessing 480 grams of processed cannabis.

The prosecutor Ms Spiwe Makarichi told the court that on 21 April 2017 Crispen Guvamombe (20) was caught by Criminal Investigating Officers in Mvurwi (CID) with a plastic full of cannabis ready for market, the plastic weighed 480 grams.

Guvamombe pleaded guilty to the charge and told the court that he was selling cannabis due to unemployment in a bid to look after his family.

"Your worship l am in drug peddling due to poverty my family needs to be supported l have two children and a heavily pregnant wife it is my wish that the court put my plea into cognisance as a custodial sentence will be a massive blow to my family," lamented Guvamombe.

However, Guruve magistrate Mr Artwel Sanyatwe slapped him with $150 fine after assessing his mitigation factors.
