Mat South has the most criminals, deserves own court: Judge

MATABELELAND SOUTH region has the largest number of criminal cases recorded in 2011, and deserves to have its own High Court, a senior High Court Judge has said.
Addressing lawyers and guests at the High Court of Zimbabwe held in Bulawayo during the opening of the 2012 legal year, Justice George Chiweshe said a substantial number of criminal cases came from Mat South.
The judge said in full: "We have only one criminal court sitting per day. Id we had sufficient court rooms, we would have at least two criminal courts sitting per day.
"As a substantial number of the criminal cases emanate from Matabeleland South, alternative is opening of a High Court in Matabeleland South. This is an option that has to be seriously considered," he said.
