The Namibian president Dr Hage Geingob, praised President Robert Mugabe for spearheading the adoption of the industrial trade policy during his tenure as SADC chairman.

"Namibia is making efforts to eradicate barriers in conducting business. Furthermore we have also adopted plans on the ease of doing business to make it simple for investors to open businesses in our country," added Dr Geingob.

Dr Geingob said this while officially opening the 58th edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) currently underway in Bulawayo.

He said the good rains in the entire SADC region are going to improve economies adding that Zimbabwe is poised for bumper harvest.

Dr Geingob highlighted that there is need to break barriers to the movement of goods in SADC, remove barriers in the movement of people adding that in Namibia, they have scrapped Visas for all Africans holding official diplomatic passports and ordinary visitors will get their visas on arrival in the country.

"It must be noted that no country will ever be able to address industrialisation on its own and we must therefore embrace regional economic development breaking down barriers within SADC and Africa to foster development in areas which can bring about an improvement in our economies," he says.

He also said there is need to deal with diminishing levels of trust between governments and the people as well as businesses and customers.

Doctor Geingob said Namibia is an attractive investment destination describing it as a gateway to Africa through the Walvis Bay adding that his country is also a gateway to Southern Africa.

"Namibia is making efforts to eradicate barriers in conducting business. Furthermore we have also adopted plans on the ease of doing business to make it simple for investors to open businesses in our country," added Dr Geingob.

President Geingob said there are many reasons why Namibia is a favourable investment destination and has invited Zimbabweans to visit his country to hear and see for themselves.

"Namibia is making efforts to eradicate barriers in conducting business. Furthermore we have also adopted plans on the ease of doing business to make it simple for investors to open businesses in our country," added Dr Geingob.

Dr Geingob has commended the Government of Zimbabwe for the sterling effort in encouraging people to invest in the neighbouring countries.
