'We are in serious trouble with sex workers'

Sex workers at Tobacco Sales Floor (TSF) in Harare have become more dangerous especially when going for a drink with farmers, Bulawayo24.com has observed.

There are several reports of farmers being drugged and robbed after a drinking spree.

Apparently some sex workers use a psychiatric pill commonly known as Maragadu to drug tobacco farmers and rob them.

Due to the biting cash shortage unscrupulous sex workers and conmen work in cahoots on their easy prey the farmers.

"We are in serious trouble with sex workers and conmen since we get our $1000 withdrawal limit at times we go for drinking with thigh vendors hoping to have good time in return but they end up being our rivals by drugging us and in turn rob us," complained a Mount Darwin farmer Jekesa.

Sex workers also confirmed to using maragadu saying that is the only option to get quick money.

"You see these farmers are so barbaric one prefers to buy beer for a sum of $200-300 but when it comes to sex he wants to pay $20 yet beer he can buy for more cash so by drugging them we take big cash at once," said a thigh vendor who preferred anonymity.

However, there are unconfirmed reports that say riot police sometimes beat sex workers at (TSF) in a bid to stop such reports.

Most of the sex workers will be half dressed prompting the farmers to fall in their arms.
