MDC-T legislator James Maridadi caused a stir in parliament after making claims that a Zanu PF legislator Mayor Wadyajena was unircumcised.
Maridadi made the remarks during the debate concerning Chitungwiza council and Local government minister's suspension of councillors on allegation of
corruption. Maridadi had questioned as to why the minister has not been fired when he also has been accused corruption.
Wadyajena had objected to his confrontation to the minister amd Maridadi said he must stop speaking like a person who is not circumcised. After
being pressured to with draw the statement Maridadi said, "I withdraw that Hon. Wadyajena is not circumcised."
But Wadyajena was not amused by the withdrawal.
"What are you withdrawing?" Wadyajena said.
"That you are not circumcised," answered Maridadi.
"Does he (Maridadi) know that I am not circumcised?" Wadyajena asked.
"His behaviour shows that he is not circumcised," Maridadi said.
Wadyajena stood up hitting back at Maridadi but was ordered to sit down by the deputy speaker of the house.
"How do you know about this?" Wadyajena asked Maridadi.
"I was told," Maridadi answered.
"Also, Madam Speaker he is insulting the culture of Nembudziya.
"I did not stand to talk about what Hon. Maridadi said that the Minister faces US$5 million allegations concerning Chiyangwa, but it is because this
man is insulting the people of Nembudziya by saying I am not circumcised. How did he become aware of that?"
