Dualisation to create 330 000 jobs

The dualisation of the Harare- Beitbridge Road is going to create 330 000 casual jobs but all workers will be recruited through Zanu PF structures, a Provincial Co-ordinating Committee meeting held at Victoria Primary School in Masvingo last Sunday.
Minister of State for Masvingo, Shuvai Mahofa declared that hiring of workers will all be done through Zanu PF and instructed delegates to start activating party structures for the recruitment process.
She said Masvingo Provincial leadership has already resolved that only Zanu PF members get jobs on the $988 million project.
"Recruitment of general labourers should be done through local Zanu PF leadership, we need to screen and take our people only.
"District chairpersons should have lists of party cadres so that when the programme starts you are ready with the names of our youths and those who are still fit to work, this is what we agreed upon as the leadership of the province," said Mahofa to thunderous applause from the delegates.
Mahofa said this after the Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development had given an update on the project including that President Mugabe was now going to commission it near Chaka Business Centre in Chirumanzu next week.
The PCC meeting was called by Gumbo who is also acting Zanu PF provincial chairperson for Masvingo.
"The dualisation project from Beitbridge to Harare is going to create in excess of 330 000 casual jobs and you can write the names of people from your areas for job opportunities," said Gumbo.
Oliver Chirume, the provincial chairman for the Joice Mujuru led National People's Party (NPP) deplored the partisan recruitment of workers for the project and said politicisation of development is what has destroyed Zimbabwe.
"The problem with Zanu PF is that it cannot separate Government from party hence the decay in the country. There should be no politicisation of development as this will scare away investors," said Chirume.
"This approach is un Zimbabwean. One should not get a job through a political party, this is not what the people died for during the war of liberation, they died for true democracy.
"This is the highest level of tyranny which shows that everything has gone wrong with the State. I don't think even the Head of State would support such segregation of the peope," said Blessing Jonah a media studies lecturer at the National University of Science and Technology in Bulawayo
