Maize farmers in Mbire district Mashonaland Central province are crying foul after they were allegedly robbed of their maize before they harvested.
Farmers who spoke to Bulawayo24.com said they had stacked in their fields before carrying it to their granaries.
"We lost many stacks here in Mbire since they were floods and hunger. The little maize we had was stolen though we know the culprits are from around here in Masomo village. They is nothing that we can do as reporting to the police will not yield results," they said.
Officer Commanding Guruve District Faith Thlomani urged members of the public to make reports as soon as they discover a crime saying a charge office is like a supermarket.
She said this at a police event in Mvurwi on 5 May supported by Chief Makope and Mashonaland Central Minister of State Martin Dinha.
"You should quickly report as soon as a crime is committed to make police work and your safety easier.
"The charge office is like a supermarket where a customer and seller dwells, you are our customers feel free to approach us," she said
