Zanu-PF aligned Zicosu trounce MDC-T aligned Zinasu

THE Zanu PF-aligned Zimbabwe Congress of Students Union (Zicosu) scored big in the recent elections held at the University of Zimbabwe.
ZICOSU won Presidency and main Secreatry General positions in UZ elections. ZICOSU's Steven Tsikirai was elected as President on 18 April 2017. The President and the SG are considered the most influential offices in Zimbabwe student politics.
Zicosu was formed at the turn of the millennium to rival the Zimbabwe National Students Union (Zinasu), which was in the past seen as being sympathetic to the opposition MDC formations.
Some of the ZICOSU members who were victorious at the US SRC election are Tafadzwa Ponela, Ian Muchena, Norest Matambanadzo and Mukwichi Ignatius.
