A Mushumbi man who was evading conviction since 2014 has been jailed today in Guruve for assault and contempt of court.
It emerged in the court that Taurai Takaendesa now (27) ambushed and attacked Stewart Marasha after a beer dispute.
The prosecutor Sipiwe Makarichi told the court that Takaendesa committed the crime in August 2014 when he was (23) and did not come back for final trial when his case was still under trial hence a warrant of arrest was issued.
Takaendesa was arrested today and pleaded guilty to the charge in which a medical report was produced indicating that the complainant sustained head injuries.
Guruve magistrate Artwel Sanyatwe sentenced him to an effective 8 months jail term for contravening section 89 codification act chapter 09:23.
