A Tobacco farmer from Mvuramachema farm in Guruve, Mashonaland Central was fined $150 for side marketing.
He is accused of contravening section 24(1) (a) of Stop Order Act chapter 18:11.
Representing the State, Ms Spiwe Makarichi told the court that Tafadzwa Rangwani (26) got inputs from Munakiri leaf tobacco contractor through their administrator George Nhamburo (41).
Rangwani received 50kg coal, 1 bag compound (c) fertilizer, 1 bag Ammonium Nitrate fertiliser, 5 litre Decanol, 250ml lambda, 500mls Chloryriphos, 500mls Dimethoate and tillage between 21 September 2015 to May 2016 .
He pleaded guilty to the charge and was slapped with US$150 and an additional 6 months on condition that he restitutes $1220 owed to the complainant to be paid by 31 May 2017.
In passing sentence, Guruve magistrate Artwel Sanyatwe said side marketing was now a cause of concern and a jail term would be a clear deterrent to those in the same habit.
