MRP President, SG charged with contempt of Court

The Lupane Magistrate Court has charged and fined Mthwakazi Republic Party President Mqondisi Moyo and the party's Secretary General Hloniphani Ncube with contempt of Court at Lupane Magistrate Court.
The court had put May 3 as the commencement of the trial, emanating from the POSA case of the 14th of December 2016.
The party has condemned the process as manipulated.
It said in one of the worst case engulfed with gross manipulation of the Justice system Magistrate Masuku charged the two despite the fact that they had comunicated with the Prosecutor through their Lawyer and agreed to move the trial to the 17th and the 18th of May 2017.
"Magistrate Masuku argued that in his court he does not operate through the Lawyers indicating that, the two were suppose to communicate direct with the Court. He then fined them with $30-00 each or five days in prison for disrespecting the court," said the party.
"Their trial will start on the 17th to the 18th of May 2017. What irked us the most is that the court says the court only accept cash, no Eco cash and form of electronic system. The government is preaching what they do not practice, why are they not accepting plastic money when there is no money in banks and the rest of the country."
The two, Mqondisi Moyo and Hloniphani Ncube were fined at 15: 30pm and the court said it does not allow any form of payment except cash.
"I was left with an hour to look for $60-00 cash which is near imposible in this country. Thank God we have structures in Lupane that gave a swift response. By the time we came back to the court it was 16:17pm and the Prison officers had already admitted our SG to the prison. We had to start all over again to negotiate for his release, and he was released at 17:30 pm," said one of the accused.
There were arguments between the Court and the Prison officials over the procedure that should be used in releasing them after paying fines.
"As MRP we feel that this was not supposed to be a case in the first place," he said.
